The former manager of England, Fabio Capello, has given his opinion on why the three lions could not finish his wait for a great victory in the Bajo Gareth Southgate tournament.
During his eight years to the helm, Southgate took England to successive euros, but his team fell short against Italy and Spain, respectively.
He resigned from his role after losing to Spain in the final of last year, after having lost the delivery of the trophy that has eluded England since 1966.
Capello, who managed England between 2007 and 2012, praised Southgate for his work with the national team, but feels that they finally lost their biggest games during their mandate due to their “fear of winning.”
“Southgate did a fantastic job, arrived twice to play in the final, but lost the final because when England players reached the final, they did not play with the same facilities and security they had played before,” Capello told Flashscore.
“I was in the game in Wembley when they played Italy and after 20 minutes they played to waste time because they were afraid to win the final.”

Capello has urged the Chief of New England, Thomas Tuchel, to concentrate on developing a positive mentality within his squad
Capello seems to feel that England's best opportunity to win a tournament came in 2021 when they faced Italy in the territory.
Southgate's men had the perfect beginning when they took the lead in the second minute through Luke Shaw.
However, England fought to create opportunities for the rest of the game, and Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci took his team in the middle of the second half to take the game to the sanctions.
Italy then kept his nerve in the shooting to succeed 3-2 in penalties.
Thomas Tuchel has now had the task of taking England to next year's World Cup in North America.
Capello knows how it is for a foreign coach to manage England and has offered advice to his German counterpart.
He is convinced that Tuchel should focus on developing a positive mentality within his team to get the best of his players.
“All managers who will administer England, must understand this: you have to enter the mind and forget what happened before and only think positively,” he explained.
Tuchel is ready to name his first team next week before the World Cup qualifiers in England against Albania and Latvia at the end of this month.
