A former Premier League E Scottish International was taken to the hospital on Thursday night after collapsing in the field just a few minutes before the start in a match in League Dos.
The clash between Chesterfield and Doncaster was delayed for 10 minutes when John Fleck received treatment before being retired on a stretcher and then to the hospital.
“We can confirm that John Fleck has been taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure after having become ill during the warm -up prior to the game,” wrote his Chesterfield club in X.
After the game, manager Danny Webb suggested that Fleck suffered a “adjustment”, but reassured fans by saying that the 33 -year -old man was in a good mood when they took him out of the field.
“I had an adjustment of some kind,” Webb told the Times of Derbyshire.
'The last thing we saw of him was on a stretcher that was going, aware, speaking and with a smile on his face. We will know more tomorrow. He is in good hands. The crossed fingers seems to be fine.

'There was a period with John on the floor in warming and football takes away his mind. Our dressing room was a very quiet place before the beginning. As the staff tried to lift the children and let them know that John seemed good to be when he left. They were flat because he is a teammate and cares about him. The three points for John came out and obtained.
Chesterfield beat Doncaster Rovers 5-2 at the SMH stadium when Michael Jacobs took the place of Fleck on the equipment sheet.
This is not the first time that Fleck has had a health scare while playing.
In 2021 when he was in Sheffield United, he collapsed during the championship accessory of his team with reading, receiving 10 minutes of urgent medical treatment in the field at the Madejski stadium before being transported to the hospital.
Fleck played in the top category for Sheffield United for two seasons and has won five caps for Scotland.
