Thomas Tuchel sent good luck text messages to England players in Crystal Palace before visiting Selhurst Park to see them beat Ipswich.

Tuchel directed the rule on players such as Eberrechi Eze, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Dean Henderson while looking to reduce a long list of 55 before appointing his first team of the three lions at the end of this week.

And Henderson revealed that the German took the unusual step to mark his visit before the start.

“Thomas sent me a text message before the game to say that I would be looking and wish me all the best, and it is good to know what he is looking at,” said the palace goalkeeper.

Henderson, who hopes to add to his two caps, had a strong game since his team won for the fourth consecutive time thanks to the late winner of Ismaila Sarr.

“All I can control is what I can control, which is doing my job for the team and appear in big moments, what I have been doing,” said Henderson.

'I would love to play for England this time and win a cap. I have been chasing it and it is one of my goals.

“I'm really enjoying myself and it's the best football I've played in recent years.”

Henderson also supported his teammate Wharton to make his way in Tuche's thinking. The midfielder returns to the dispute after working well since he recovered from groin surgery.

“He is the best player,” said Henderson. 'There is no roof for him. It has been great. He has returned and has been great for us the last two games.
