The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has confirmed that the 2026 World Cup final will have a part -time show inspired by the American Football Super Bowl.

The tournament, which will be the largest in the history of the World Cup that will have 48 national teams, instead of 32, will conclude at the Metlife Stadium of 82,500 New Jersey on July 19.

When writing on Instagram on Wednesday morning, Infantino said that 'a program consistent with the world's largest sporting event' will take place after the first 45 minutes of the game.

Infantino also revealed that the British pop rock band Coldplay would be collaborating with FIFA to help attract and select musical artists.

It is currently not clear if the part -time interval will be extended to accommodate the show.

Infantino's message said: 'It was a pleasure to talk to friends and colleagues who attended the FIFA 26 World Cup: Convention of Commercial and FIFA media in Dallas, where we discussed some very exciting plans for the largest FIFA World Cup in 2026.

'I can confirm the first part -time show in a FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen. This will be a historical moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show according to the world's largest sporting event.

'We also talk about how FIFA will take Times Square for the last weekend of the FIFA World Cup in 2026, during the final bronze match and the final.

'These will be two incredible games, with some of the best players in the world, and what better way to celebrate them than in the historic Square in New York City.

'My thanks, of course, to the CEO of Global Citizen Hugh Evans and his incredible team, for helping us elaborate these incredible shows. I also want to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey from Coldplay, who will work with us in FIFA to finish the list of artists who will perform during the part -time show, as well as in Times Square '.

The famous Super Bowl half -weather show has grown remarkably since the first event in 1967. Now it attracts more spectators than the game itself.

This year's part -Bowl half -time show was headed by Kendrick Lamar, with special guests such as SZA, Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.

The previous part -time shows have starred Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, Prince, Jennifer López and Shakira.
