Darrell FellerA retired pilot from the National Guard of the US Army burdens the possible causes behind the tragic DC aircraft collision … and communicates how a number of factors could have been involved.
We caught up with Darrell in “TMZ Live” after the tragedy on Wednesday evening and explained how it was quite possible.
According to Darrell, the certain route that the chopper has recorded is known for causing “confusion with earthlight” due to the light of surrounding structures, buildings and other aircraft.
He noticed … “The passenger jet lights will actually insert themselves into these base lights and it is sometimes very difficult to see.”
Darrell said that this specific route, combined with the assigned runway, was called the “most dangerous place” … which means that an incident is most likely to occur there – like this week.
While the route was switched off by the FAA after the collision, Darrell made a case for its existence … and explains that air traffic control enables a clear way to move aircraft in and out of overloaded airspace.

Darrell said that something had to be done against the danger zone … but shared it that it was unclear whether that means closing the tricky runway or creating a new routing system completely.
There is currently a federal investigation of the cause of the collision … which has left no survivors.
