An investigation into images that circulate from a shocking altercation between a player who is not the league and followers has been launched.

A video, which has gone viral on social networks, seems to show followers fighting with members of the Minehead AFC squad, a club in the Somerset County Soccer League.

The incident occurred after Minehead's 2-1 defeat at Stockwood Green, in which they granted a last winner.

After the game, when the Somerset side players went to the locker room, a group of fans apparently crashed with two members of the Minehead team.

Then there is a collision with the followers as a particular player who seems to receive the worst part of the attack.

Then manages to enter the wardrobe while the group continues to try to cross the door, before the crowd finally dispense.

Since then, Minehead has published a statement in the application of social networks Facebook that confirms an investigation into the incident that has begun.

“We are fully aware and disappointed by the incident that occurred in the club yesterday afternoon,” the club wrote.

'This is currently being investigated and the relevant authorities are involved. As this is an active investigation, no more comments will be made during this time.

Before the statement was issued, a Facebook user who had encountered the video confirmed that he had reported the clash to the authorities.

They wrote: 'I just saw the video of Minehead fans stacking and hitting their own players on the head. He sent the video to the police. Any comments from Minehead AFC?

Mail Sport has contacted the Avon and Somerset police that have confirmed that they are aware of the incident, but they cannot make more comments at this time.

The incident are the latest shameful scenes in the base game, which occur only one week after the parents broke into a massive fight in a youth football match.

That alarming movement made parents and coaches run to the field, but from there the images only become more worrying.
