Steve Smith has announced his retirement from the international matches one day after appearing in the 170 -time format for his country.
The shock movement occurred after it led Australia to defeat in the Champions trophy semifinal on Tuesday night while captain Pat Cummins was replaced.
Smith, 35, will continue playing in T20 tests and matches for his country, since he leaves the door open for a possible appearance at the 2028 Olympic Games, where the 20 superiors game will be presented for the first time.
“It feels like the right time to move forward (for younger players),” said Smith.
'It has been a great trip and I loved every minute.

'Now it is a great opportunity for people to begin to prepare for the 2027 World Cup, so it feels like the right time to give way.
'Test Crickt is still a priority and I am anxious for the final of the World Testing Championship, the Western Indies in winter and then England at home.
“I feel that I still have a lot to contribute at that stage.”
Smith scored 5800 races in 170 Odi games for Australia, with an average of 43.28 with a high score of 164, 12 centuries and 35 media centers in his name.
He also took 28 WICKETS as a bowling player to an average of 34.67 with the best 3/16 figures and, in particular, he helped Australia obtain victories during his 2015 and 2023 World Cup winning campaigns.
On Tuesday, he produced a brilliant 73 of 96 balls in his last 50 tickets to help stabilize his team during his semifinal defeat of the Champions Cup against India.
