The transfer of Goodison Everton to the banks of the Mersey has been arriving for a while. In fact, it has been delayed once. But here, on the night of Derby's final house against Liverpool, he felt as if that short and emotional journey to the hill to the water finally began.

There are still six games to play here. The old woman is not yet ready to attract the curtains on her 131 -year contribution to the history of English football. But this still felt like the moment when Everton began to say goodbye and it was a way of doing so.

This was not only the final game here against its neighbors, it was possibly the most dramatic. If there has been a meeting as finally grumpy, it is difficult to remember it.
