Travis Kelce reveals why he'll “cherish every play” as Chiefs bid for third title

Travis Kelce will cherish every moment on the field as the Kansas City Chiefs' bid for an unprecedented three-peat comes to an end.

The Chiefs are preparing for their first NFL playoff game this weekend after clinching the AFC's top seed and a first-round bye.

Awaiting them in the divisional round are the Houston Texans, who will travel to Arrowhead on Saturday after earning a wild card victory over the LA Chargers.

Kelce, 35, who many fear could hang up his cleats at the end of the season, and Kansas City are looking to make history in their final playoff campaign after winning a second straight Super Bowl last season.

And as they look to become the first team to win it three times in a row, Travis has explained why he savors every play as the season comes to a close.

'Playoff football is the most meaningful football you'll ever play in your life. I appreciate every game man. “I really believe it,” he said in a motivational clip released by the Chiefs before their matchup with the Texans.

'When you're in this, you're always trying to strive for greatness. Be bigger than you are.

“There's obviously a historic streak and something we can accomplish that no other team has accomplished.” You know that feeds you.'

Kelce got off to a slow start to the 2024 season and finished with one of the lowest-producing campaigns of his career.

His 823 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions were his lowest since his rookie season.

It was this rocky start that led many NFL analysts to suggest that the legendary tight end would be better off retiring at the end of his twelfth season with Kansas City.

Kelce has seen his fame outside football soar in the last 18 months amid his whirlwind romance with pop megastar Taylor Swift, which many believe has contributed to his disappointing form on the field.

But during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith's podcast this week, Kelce insisted that his relationship with Swift has left him happier than ever.

“I'm enjoying all aspects of life,” he told the host of ESPN's morning show “First Take.”

“Taylor and I are happy and I couldn't be happier to enjoy that comfort and confidence off the field and all the support I could ask for in the stadium, man.”

Kelce also said that the support he receives from Swift is a two-way street and that he works hard to make sure she feels like he is there for her.

“Well, I personally think the good thing about being in a very strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to go in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of yourself,” she added.

'That's why I wanted to be at the concert, supporting her and being there for her, making sure she feels comfortable and understanding in everything she's doing in life.

“I think I'm more focused than ever on my job and being the best player I could be week in and week out for this team. It's because I don't have to worry about things off the field.”
