Shakes the governor's hand after landing in LA

Donald Trump And Gavin Newsom I won't be going on vacation or having a few beers together anytime soon… but the two men are staying cordial while POTUS is in LA – at least for now.
The 47th President of the United States landed at LAX on Friday afternoon to survey the damage caused by the region's devastating wildfires… and the governor of California was at the airport to meet him.
Check out the clip… the two bitter rivals shake hands and appear to put their problems aside for a friendly chat on the tarmac. The two politicians exchange a few short words that seem friendly and warm as they shake back and forth.
Newsom also takes a moment to greet the first lady Melania Trumpwho accompanied DT on his visit to California…also shook her hand.

Trump and Newsom then thank each other as they speak to the press… with the pair exchanging a few more handshakes for the cameras. Trump even promises to provide federal aid to California, prompting another thank you from Newsom – who says he remembers how Trump also helped the Golden State during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As you know, Trump and Newsom have never seen eye to eye… and the recent wildfires in Southern California have only heightened tensions between them.
President Trump has floated the idea of withholding federal disaster relief funds provided there are fundamental changes to California's water policy and forest management.
Earlier this week, it wasn't even clear whether the two would meet… Trump said he hadn't considered interacting with California's top lawmaker.

Newsom has repeatedly called the president a threat to democracy, while President Trump has famously referred to the governor as “Newscum” — not exactly the bipartisan cooperation that many in California favor.
California politicians – especially Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass — have came under fire since the Los Angeles fires, particularly the Pacific Palisades wildfire, devastated the region.
Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to tighten environmental restrictions and other measures to prevent wildfires in the state… However, Trump has threatened to withhold federal disaster relief funding for California unless Newsom plays nice.
