Alan Shearer gave a hilarious reaction during a Betfair questionnaire in a round about his own career because he got a question wrong.
The Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer joined the 'football' team for the contest, which was held to celebrate Christmas, and featured footballer-turned-broadcaster Alan McInally and presenter Abigail Davies on its equipment.
They took on the 'racing team', captained by Rachael Blackmore and also including 14-time champion trainer Paul Nicholls and Sky Sports Racing presenter Vanessa Ryle.
Host Kevin Hatchard tested contestants in five rounds of sports trivia: Buzzer, Hed Your Bets, Captain's Challenge, Go Big or Go Home and the Final Furlong.
The captain's challenge involved Shearer answering questions about his own career, but prompted some funny responses when he got it wrong.
The highlight of the round was when he was asked about his time at Blackburn and, in particular, when he was playing in the Champions League.
Alan Shearer joined Alan McInally and Abigail Davies to compete in a sports event.
Representing the 'football' team, they took on the 'running' team of Rachael Blackmore, Paul Nicholls and Vanessa Ryle.
Shearer left competitors laughing with his reaction to receiving an incorrect answer about his race in the captain's challenge.
Shearer was asked who was the only Premier League player to have won the Golden Boot more times, and he correctly chose Thierry Henry.
He was then asked who had moved to Southampton from Blackburn as part of his move, and he answered directly with David Speedie.
The Match of the Day pundit then mentioned John Lukic as the goalkeeper he scored a hat-trick against on his Southampton debut, but stopped short when asked who he scored against in the 1994/95 Champions League with the Blackburn.
After a brief pause, Shearer nervously suggested Heerenveen and was corrected with Rosenborg.
Fellow competitors were stunned when the former striker exclaimed: 'B****cks!' before continuing.
Shearer answered all the remaining questions correctly, except that Moisés Caicedo was the record transfer between two British clubs, which he overlooked.
Speaking about the quiz, Shearer said: “There's nothing like a good quiz at Christmas, and it was fantastic to captain the team for the Betfair Christmas Quiz… Just Bettor.” I won't spoil it for people who are going to see it, but some of those questions were a lot harder than we thought they would be.
“Fair play to the Betfair racing team too, they know what they're doing.”
