Here's a new way to miss a flight… a Waymo passenger says his driverless ride to the airport keeps sending him in circles… and he documented his travel nightmare on video.
The footage shows a man named Mike Johns He's sitting in the back seat of his Waymo car, which won't stop circling a parking lot.
Mike calls Waymo customer service to report the problem and tells them he's in danger of missing his flight… but the agent fails to stop the car… and Mike continues to circle driven.
It's funny… Mike wonders if he's being pranked and he says it feels like he's in a sci-fi thriller.
Ultimately, Mike says his Waymo drove him around in eight circles… and he ended up missing his flight.
Mike claims he hasn't been reimbursed for the missed flight yet and calls Waymo out for lacking empathy and ignoring him with a customer service department that is fully automated and driven by artificial intelligence.
Sounds like the experience upset Waymo for Mike… Next time he needs a ride, he says he'll do it the old fashioned way with a Lyft or Uber.
Waymo — operated by Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. — is still fairly new to the taxi business… and it's clear it still has some kinks to work out.
