Both “popular” at the Oscars!!!

Cynthia Erivo And Ariana Grande are probably feeling “popular” right now…both just received Oscar nominations for their work in “Wicked.”
The full list of nominees was announced early Thursday morning, with Cynthia nominated for Best Actress and Ariana landing a spot in the Supporting Actress category… where she is also a former child star Selena Gomez was notably snubbed for her work in “Emilia Pérez.”
Their nominations weren't surprising considering “Wicked” dominated the box office in late 2024, but it must feel good for Cynthia and Ariana… who put on one heck of a press tour when the musical film came out in November.
Ariana was very touched by the nomination…as she posted her gratitude on Instagram shortly after her big honor was announced.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram media.
Alongside a video of her singing “The Wizard and I” from Wicked as a child, she wrote… “I can't stop crying, which surprises no one. I am humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company.” I share this with little Ari, who sat and watched Judy Garland sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble hit. I'm so proud of you, little one.

She also shouted out her co-star, declaring that Cynthia deserves “every flower (tulip) in every garden.”
Monday's nomination marks the pop star's first Oscar nomination… while Cynthia's 2025 nomination is her third, having previously been nominated for best actress and original song in 2019 for her work in “Harriet.”
However, neither Ariana nor Cynthia are candidates for the top honor at the awards ceremony in March. Ariana is currently the leading candidate against “Emilia Pérez” star Zoe Saldana – who took home the Golden Globe earlier this month.

As for Cynthia, she has to assert herself Demi Moore, Karla Sofia Gascon, Mikey MadisonAnd Fernanda Torres …who all gave critically acclaimed performances last year.
May the best awards campaign win!!!
