Wolves close in on signing Manu Silva in £10m deal from Vitoria SC as Vitor Pereira looks to strengthen his midfield options

Wolves are close to signing Portuguese defensive midfielder Manu Silva, 23, in a £10m deal from Vitoria SC.

Vitor Pereira is looking to continue strengthening his team this January to help their fight for Premier League survival, and Emmanuel Agbadou has already arrived from Reims this month.

The defender slotted straight into the starting XI for the league clash against Newcastle in midweek, having also played against Bristol City in the FA Cup third round at the weekend.

Silva, meanwhile, known as 'Manu', has played 28 times in all competitions for Portuguese side Vitoria SC this season, including the Conference League.

In total, he has played 50 times for the club since arriving from Feirense in 2023.

His arrival would give Wolves some much-needed reinforcements in midfield, with Joao Gomes and André currently taking on much of the workload for Pereira's men.

Silva has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Portuguese side Vitoria SC this season.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is looking to continue strengthening his team in their fight for survival.

He could also be a somewhat direct replacement for former captain Mario Lemina, who asked to leave the club this month.

However, after asking to be left out of the team against Newcastle, Lemina apologized to Pereira and could feature against Chelsea this weekend.

“Today he came to see me, in the morning, and apologized to me and apologized to the team,” Pereira said in his pre-match press conference. “He said he is ready to do the best he can for the team until we have a solution and a decision.
